After establishing our own heat exchanger production facilities—first in the Czech Republic in 2001 for tube coolers, and then in Neu-Anspach in 2003 for oil-air coolers—we expanded operations in both countries (increasing production space and office facilities), and sales continued to grow significantly.

We also ventured into the US market, establishing a new "greenfield" production facility in Perrysburg, Ohio.

At the same time, we consistently expanded our heat exchanger product range.
During this period, Michael Uhl’s children (Clemens and Valentina) and the son of the second co-founder (Christian Rosiepen) joined the company, further developing the family business.

In 2020, company founder Ralf Uhl celebrated his 80th birthday and marked 60 years of experience in the hydraulics industry.

While passengers and crew enjoy the sunshine, the onboard technology works reliably in the background.

Our colleague Matthias Pabst visited the Suisse Public trade fair in Bern on Wednesday. The event covered many topics currently relevant to cities, municipalities, and municipal utilities—ranging from vehicles, machinery, and infrastructure to technical solutions for daily operations.

We were particularly interested in the many applications where hydraulics play a key role. Whether it involves refuse trucks, street sweepers, or other municipal utility vehicles, many of these systems must operate reliably day in and day out.

This is precisely where the right cooling solution comes into play. With our LKM oil-air coolers, we help mobile hydraulic systems maintain high performance, even under demanding conditions.

Our colleague Matthias Pabst attended the Powertage event in Zurich on Thursday. The discussions focused on topics currently dominating the industry: hydropower, grid infrastructure, security of supply, and the continued expansion of renewable energy.

We found it particularly interesting to see just how concretely many of these issues are now being discussed. After all, success often hinges not merely on concepts, but on technical implementation.

This is precisely where reliable cooling and safety systems come into play—such as our safety heat exchangers for hydropower plants or transformer coolers for energy infrastructure.

How exactly do production and office teams collaborate to ensure a finished product reaches the customer?

Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming students from Feldbergschule Oberursel, accompanied by their teacher Ms. Leonhard, to Universal Hydraulik GmbH.

To kick things off, Valentina Uhl (HR Manager) and Loana Denk (Deputy HR Manager) introduced our company. The students gained insights into our products, customer base, and job roles, as well as the various entry-level positions and career paths available at Universal Hydraulik.

Afterward, Patrick Veidt guided the group through our production facilities. At several stations set up for the visit, our employees shared personal insights into their career paths and daily work routines.

This highlighted just how closely the different areas of the company work together:

✔ Sales calculates quotes and customer projects.
✔ Purchasing procures materials at the right time.
✔ Production Planning schedules manufacturing workflows and deadlines.
✔ Quality Assurance monitors processes and products.
✔ Production turns plans into high-quality solutions.

It is the interplay of all these areas that enables efficient, timely, and high-quality order processing.

We were particularly pleased to receive such positive feedback from Ms. Leonhard and the students. They especially highlighted the excellent working atmosphere and the close collaboration between the production and office teams.

The opening statement summed up the day’s focus perfectly for me.

The forum "Accelerating the Energy Transition: Practical Success Factors" approached the topic just the way I wish it were discussed more often:

openly,
factually,
and with a focus on implementation.

No simple answers to complex questions.
Instead, plenty of practical examples and diverse perspectives.

I even had a real-life example of my own to share:
I spent three days traveling in Switzerland and drove entirely on electric power the whole time.

Without extensive planning.
Without range anxiety.
Without feeling restricted.
The charging infrastructure was there—and it worked.

That might sound unremarkable. But for me, that is precisely the key point:

Transformation is convincing when it works in everyday life.

At Universal Hydraulik GmbH, many of our projects are all about exactly that:

Technology shouldn't just look good on paper.
It has to function reliably in actual operation.

Especially with safety heat exchangers, what matters in the end isn't the headline, but the sound technical solution:

secure media separation,
operational safety,
and day-to-day reliability.

That’s why I really enjoyed the event.

Because the conversation wasn't just about goals, but about the paths to achieving them.

My takeaway from Zurich:
Momentum builds when we discuss things openly, learn from one another, and make solutions work in practice.
