Ralf Uhl (86), founder of Universal Hydraulik GmbH, has transferred his remaining shares in the company to his two grandchildren, Clemens and Valentina Uhl.

After successfully managing Racine Hydraulik (1970–1983), Ralf Uhl founded Universal Hydraulik GmbH in 1983. He built the company from the ground up; today, it employs a workforce of 120 people across Germany and the Czech Republic.

Valentina Uhl joined the company’s HR department in 2019—following her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree and experience in tourism PR—and has headed the department since 2020.

Clemens Uhl began his career at UH in 2017 as a work-study student in Industrial Engineering, completing multi-month assignments abroad at the company’s subsidiaries in the USA and the Czech Republic. He became a Sales Engineer in 2020 and is set to assume the roles of Authorized Signatory and Commercial Director starting in 2025. He will soon join the current Managing Director, Michael Uhl (who has been with the company since 2000), as a second Managing Director to lead the business together.

Universal Hydraulik GmbH is a family-owned business with long-term objectives, now actively involving the third generation of the family.

The anniversary edition highlights the evolution of Universal Hydraulik—from our beginnings as a family-owned business in 1983 to our current status as an international provider of heat exchangers, cooling systems, and complete system solutions.

Naturally, this also covers the technical developments and changing requirements of recent decades.
Power densities are rising, systems are becoming more compact, and cooling is increasingly vital for efficiency and operational reliability.

Our hybrid heat exchangers—which combine the advantages of plate and shell-and-tube heat exchangers—are a prime example of this.

Furthermore, we develop and supply solutions for a wide range of applications, including general industry and mechanical engineering, mobile hydraulics, compressed air technology, mining, and marine sectors, as well as custom hydraulic power units and cooling systems.

International connections, and many productive conversations at SMM Hamburg.

Representing Universal Hydraulik at SMM this year were Michael Uhl and Clemens Uhl, along with our colleagues Mario Brumm and Sebastian Schupp.

The event provided an opportunity to connect with existing contacts, initiate new discussions, and gain firsthand insight into the latest developments in international shipbuilding and the maritime industry.

The marine sector has long been a key area of ​​application for us. Seawater heat exchangers, safety heat exchangers, custom heat exchangers, and hydraulic system solutions must operate reliably here under particularly demanding conditions. Corrosion resistance, operational safety, and a long service life play a crucial role in this regard.

This makes face-to-face interaction with customers, partners, manufacturers, and other industry representatives all the more important.

Many thanks for the numerous interesting conversations and encounters at SMM Hamburg. We are taking away some exciting ideas for future projects.

Universal Hydraulik GmbH once again took part in the Bad Homburg After Work Run in 2026—marking the fourth consecutive year of participation.

Nearly 20 colleagues tackled the 5-kilometer course together on Wednesday. Whether jogging or walking, the main focus was simply participating as a team. We also received support from colleagues who came along to cheer us on.

In total, around 3,000 runners took part. After crossing the finish line at the Kronenhof, the event continued with food, drinks, and live music.

Naturally, there was also a small internal awards ceremony. Our three fastest runners this year were:
